The American International School · Vienna provides comprehensive opportunities for learners from all over the world. We work actively and intentionally to: nurture students in an inclusive community, challenge them to strive for personal excellence through exploration of their passions, and foster respect through compassion for others and for our world.
Set amidst the rich cultural, political, and economic context of Austria, our students engage successfully in academic preparation, in athletics, music, and visual arts. From class trips to mountain ranges or projects serving nearby neighbors, a host of other activities allow individual students to practice commitment, leadership, and meaningful self-reflection. We maintain a broad set of offerings and opportunities to help us serve our students and be true to our mission.
After nearly 55 years of operation in the international schools community, AIS today proudly serves 770 students from Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) through 12th grade. Our student body represents 53 countries, celebrating a diversity within our school walls which mirrors the growing diversity of the planet and the world capital that is Vienna. Students at AIS access rigorous and proven opportunities, and are eligible for a U.S. Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. At AIS students work with dedicated professionals at the same time that they learn to work with their classmates and fellow school citizens. We maintain a school culture of high expectations and close connection to the pulse of international education. Investments in the quality and skill of our staff are frequent and on-going, and recent enhancements to our school facilities and to our technology resources are assuring our role as a vital partner and a leader in our city and region. We welcome all to our community of learners; we work every day to assure learners understand the connections between learning and living. We invite you to join us as a school with a glorious history, an exciting present, and a promising future!
